The Youth Voice: Essay Writing Contest
In the Philippines, political awareness and motivation to vote is a big problem. People shy away from voting because the impact of their vote often feels undermined in the face of widespread corruption. That’s why it was so important for us to conduct the election-themed essay contest "Be Heard, Be Counted" in various local high schools in the run-up leading to May 2025 elections. We wanted these participants to realize the importance of their voice to be heard, their vote to counted.

Just recently, at the height of the controversy with corruption in flood control projects, we conducted our second Youth Voice series with the theme "No to Floods, No to Corruption"--challenging the youth to confront these issues and to suggest transparent and sustainable solutions.

Just like our country's national hero Jose Rizal, we believe in the power of the pen to create and become the change we want to see in government and in society.

We would like to thank all private and public schools who have been supporting our essay-writing contests, as well as the many talented and committed students for their prose and dedication!
